Nicole Tijoux

The liquid universe is Nicole Tijoux's fascination. With her work she explores the limits of visuality when bodies are covered by water. Her realistic painting captures movement in different situations, showing how something static on the surface can be in constant motion. The water on the figure appeals to the capacity for state changes. Deformed, transformed bodies are proof that force has passed through them: it is a testament to their fragility and, at the same time, evidence of the capacity we all have to regain form.
