Carmen Piemonte / Solealum II
One of the four works that won the "Woman Artist Award".
Carmen Piemonte was born in 1931. Of Italian origin, her curiosity for abstract art led her to the Forma y Espacio group in 1965, where she investigated less rigid postulates. In her work she combines freer forms, playing in space with closed and open forms. She explored the third dimension with circles and spheres, and vanishing lines that achieved depth and volume. In the 1980s she depicted abstract landscapes and magical mountains with sharp angles and strong lines. After the 1985 earthquake she incorporated vibrations in the sfumato technique, with diffuse contours without lines or edges. The original work Solealum II is an oil on linen canvas made in 2008.
