SWAB Barcelona 2024
Collectio was present for the second consecutive year at the SWAB Barcelona Fair with three artists represented: Pascuala Lira, Grace Weinrib and José Cori. In this participation, Collectio won two acquisition awards, for the Kells Art Collection, which acquired a drawing by the Chilean artist José Cori, and for the José Luis Lorenzo Collection, which acquired a ceramic by the same artist, José Cori.
Swab is an independent art fair and an experimental platform for emerging artistic proposals born in 2006. Founded by the architect and collector Joaquín Diez-Cascón, Swab is an event that brings together up to 80 galleries from the international scene and functions as a meeting point for the cultural sector at a global level. With 17 editions under its belt, the fair faces 2024 maintaining its mission of supporting the spaces and disciplines that are changing the course of the art scene. This edition took place from October 3 to 6, 2024. Swab defines itself as a fair on a human scale, giving priority to the quality of the artistic program and the proximity of the project to the public. Human treatment and accessibility to culture become priorities in an event that seeks, above all, to break with the hermeticism that often surrounds the world of contemporary art and to share with Barcelona the latest trends in the international art scene.
About the collections:
Kells Art Collection
The Kells art collection was established in 1996 as a result of Juan Manuel Elizalde and Choli Fuentes' approach to the art world. Today, the collection is made up of several hundred works, with an eclectic character that reflects their interests and the themes for which they feel a special affinity and sensitivity: language and communication in their different fields occupy an important part of the collection.
José Luis Lorenzo Collection
The José Luis Lorenzo Collection is one of the most comprehensive collections of contemporary art in Argentina, with the unique feature of maintaining a permanent dialogue with antiques, design objects and artisanal productions that are also part of the collection. With the intention of promoting local and national artistic productions, the collection began to grow in the 1990s. All techniques and disciplines are represented, although a certain predilection for photographic productions is recognized.
